Heather Reitsma
The Right Choice for City Council – District 5

Heather Reitsma
Deep Roots in District 5!
Hi, my name is Heather Reitsma. I grew up in District 5 in the City View area, my husband grew up in District 5 in the SAFB area, I raised my kids in our District, I still live in our District and I own a small business in our District off of Missile Road. My brother was in the first graduating class of, the new at the time, City View High School. District 5 has been my entire life and this is where my passion to serve our District comes from.
When people think of District 5, they normally think of SAFB. Other areas like City View often get overlooked. Not anymore, my focus will be on our entire district. My campaign is a positive one and my main focus is on our District and making our District a better place to live.
I understand that I am asking you to trust me to be your voice and I take that seriously. As City Councilor for District 5 I will hold myself accountable to the residents of our District.
I am asking for your vote on November 3rd, I believe together we can make a real difference in our District. I am a fighter and I look forward to fighting for you. Thank you.
Campaign Highlights
Your Voice
I am not running for my voice to be heard. I am running to be your voice and to represent the residents of District 5.
Businesses
I will support businesses in our District and fight for incentives to encourage new businesses to open in District 5. In the past the City has created incentives for businesses in other parts of the city, it’s time our District fights for some of those incentives.
Sidewalks
I am creating a community program to repair hazardous sidewalk areas in District 5. I will also fight the city for walkways in District 5 parks and to address non connecting sidewalks.
Parks
A neighborhood park should be a place where kids and the community want to spend time. Right now, the parks in our district have very little to offer. Our parks need walkways, playground equipment for children of various ages, and more places for people to sit and enjoy the park.
Community
My goal is to get the community more involved in our District. I want to bring the communities voice with me to every City Council meeting.
Taxes
Property taxes are high. While the city only makes up a portion of the total property tax, I believe the city should always be looking for ways to ease the burden on taxpayers.
Sheppard Air Force Base
Sheppard Air Force Base is not only a part of District 5, it also plays a vital role in our city’s economy. I look forward to being a part of the city’s continued support of Sheppard Air Force Base.
